Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups lime pie filling or key lime pie filling, if you’re feeling fancy
  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1/2 cup tequila silver works best, but any will do
  • Zest of 2 limes
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar for a little extra sweetness

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish—let’s keep things easy, not sticky.
  • Spread the lime pie filling evenly in the dish. Squeeze a little extra lime juice over the top if you’re a citrus lover.
  • Pour the tequila over the filling. It’s five o’clock somewhere, right?
  • Sprinkle the lime zest and sugar over the top to add some zing.
  • Spread the cake mix evenly over the lime layer.
  • Drizzle the melted butter over the cake mix—this is the magic that makes it golden and delicious.
  • Bake for 45-50 minutes until golden brown and the house smells like a tropical vacation. Serve warm, and maybe with a margarita on the side for good measure.
