1 box chocolate cake mix 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted 1/2 cup red wine Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon work wonderfully 1 cup dark chocolate pieces or chips 1/2 cup granulated sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla extract because we’re fancy
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish—sticky chocolate is not the vibe.
Pour the red wine into the dish. Swoon at the aroma.
Sprinkle the dark chocolate pieces over the wine. This is already looking irresistible.
Sprinkle the cake mix evenly over the chocolate and wine layer.
Drizzle the melted butter over the cake mix—it’s like liquid gold, really.
In a small bowl, mix the sugar and vanilla extract together, then sprinkle this over the top.
Bake for 40-45 minutes until the top is set and the inside is molten and gooey. Serve warm, perhaps with a glass of the same red wine. Cheers!
