Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Spread the pineapple with its juice evenly in the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish.
Sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix evenly over the fruit layer.
Pour the melted butter evenly over the cake mix.
If using, place pineapple rings on top, then add cherries for color
If using, sprinkle the shredded coconut and chopped pecans on top.
Bake in the preheated oven for 45 to 55 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbly.
Let cool slightly before serving. This cake is delicious served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
