1 21-ounce can fig preserves 1 8-ounce package mascarpone cheese softened 1 box vanilla cake mix 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted 1/2 cup chopped walnuts optional, for crunch 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon Zest of 1 lemon
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
Spread the fig preserves evenly across the bottom of the dish.
Drop spoonfuls of mascarpone cheese over the fig preserves and gently spread it to create a somewhat even layer.
Sprinkle the vanilla cake mix evenly over the mascarpone and figs.
Drizzle the melted butter over the cake mix, covering as much as possible. Don’t worry if some dry spots remain.
Sprinkle the chopped walnuts on top (optional).
Add the vanilla extract, cinnamon, and lemon zest over the mixture.
Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbly.
