Ingredients

  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 1 15-ounce can fig preserves
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup butter melted
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans optional but highly recommended
  • 1/2 cup water

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grab a 9x13-inch baking dish. No need to grease it—this cake is already a bit of a rebel.
  • Dump the fig preserves and honey into the baking dish and spread them out evenly. Go ahead, channel your inner Jackson Pollock.
  • Sprinkle the dry cake mix over the fig and honey layer. Try to distribute it evenly, but if it looks like a lunar landscape, that’s okay. We’re aiming for delicious, not perfection.
  • Pour the melted butter over the cake mix as evenly as possible. This is where the magic happens, folks.
  • If you're feeling fancy, sprinkle those chopped nuts over the top. They add a lovely crunch that’ll make you feel like a gourmet chef.
  • Drizzle the water over the entire concoction. It helps keep things moist and fabulous.
  • Pop that beauty into the oven and bake for 45-50 minutes until golden brown and bubbly. Your kitchen will smell heavenly!
  • Let the cake cool slightly before serving. Dig in with a spoon or serve in slices—there are no rules in the dump cake game!
