Equipment

  • 1 large skillet
  • 1 large mixing bowl

Ingredients

  • 2 21-ounce cans apple pie filling (because peeling apples is for people with more time than me)
  • 1 box spice cake mix the secret ingredient that makes you look like a genius
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter because butter makes everything better
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon to make your kitchen smell like a fall wonderland
  • Oil for frying vegetable or canola, your choice—I won’t judge

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, mix together the apple pie filling, cake mix, and cinnamon. This is your shortcut to fall heaven, no peeling or slicing involved.
  • Heat a large skillet over medium heat and pour in enough oil to coat the bottom. This is where the magic happens!
  • Drop spoonfuls of the apple mixture into the hot oil, forming adorable little apple fritters. Fry them for 3-4 minutes per side until they’re golden brown and looking irresistibly crispy.
  • Remove from the skillet and drain on paper towels. Yes, we’re frying, but we’re still civilized.
  • Serve warm, and if you’re feeling fancy, add a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. Because why not?
