Diva's Elegant Enhancements

Make your Cherry Dump Cake even more fabulous with these enhancements:

1. Add a Cheesecake Layer

 Ingredients:

-1 (8-ounce) package of cream cheese (softened),

-1/2 cup granulated sugar,

-1 egg.

Instructions:

Before adding the cherry pie filling, beat the cream cheese, sugar, and egg together until smooth.

Spread this mixture in an even layer in the baking dish, then proceed with the original recipe.

This adds a creamy cheesecake layer that complements the cherry flavor perfectly.

2. Use Chocolate Cake Mix

Ingredients:

-Substitute the yellow cake mix with a chocolate cake mix.

Instructions: Follow the original recipe, but use chocolate cake mix instead of yellow. The rich chocolate flavor pairs wonderfully with the tart cherries, creating a Black Forest cake-inspired dessert.

For extra decadence, sprinkle chocolate chips over the cake mix before adding the melted butter.

3. Incorporate Almond Extract and Sliced Almonds

Ingredients:

-1 teaspoon almond extract,

-1/2 cup sliced almonds.

Instructions:

Mix the almond extract into the cherry pie filling before spreading it in the baking dish.

After spreading the cake mix and pouring the melted butter, sprinkle sliced almonds on top.

The almond flavor enhances the cherries and adds a delightful crunch to the cake.

These variations will add new flavors and textures to the classic cherry dump cake, making it a standout dessert for any occasion.

Presentation Suggestion:

-Top each serving with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
– Add a maraschino cherry on top of the whipped cream for an extra pop of color.
– Sprinkle a light dusting of powdered sugar over the top of the cake slices.

With just a few minutes of work, you can present your family and friends with this delicious dessert.

I’d love to know how you like this recipe!
