Grilled Banana Chocolate Chip Dump Cake

Honey, put down the BBQ tongs because we’re about to take your grilling game to a whole new level.

That’s right—move over ribs, the Diva’s here to show you how to make dessert on the grill. This is a Grilled Banana Chocolate Chip Dump Cake, and once you taste it, your grill might become your favorite new dessert tool.**

You know that moment when you realize you bought way too many bananas, and now they’re sitting on your counter, looking like they’ve had better days?

Well, instead of baking banana bread for the thousandth time (yawn), we’re taking those bananas straight to the grill. Paired with a box of cake mix and some chocolate chips, this dump cake couldn’t be easier—or more delicious.

And let’s be honest, grilling a cake is going to make you look like the culinary genius of the neighborhood.

Who else is grilling dessert? No one, darling. You’re a trendsetter, a baking visionary.

Plus, the smell of those bananas and chocolate melting together will have everyone at the BBQ crowding around your grill like you just invented fire.

So get your apron on (or don’t—it’s dump cake, after all) and let’s grill this dessert masterpiece! You’ll never look at your grill the same way again.

Equipment

  • 1 Grill-safe pan or cast-iron skillet

Ingredients

  • 4 ripe bananas mashed (the mushier, the better—think overripe, not brown-mush-in-your-bag ripe)
  • 1 box yellow cake mix because we're not making this from scratch, darling
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted (yes, melted, because nobody has time to stir rock-hard butter)
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips and I mean at least 1/2 cup... you know who you are

Instructions

  • Preheat that grill to medium heat—because yes, we’re fancy like that.
  • Spray a grill-safe dish or cast-iron skillet with non-stick cooking spray (or use butter if you want extra flavor points).
  • Spread your mashed bananas like you’re frosting a cake. A very lumpy, yellow cake.
  • Sprinkle the cake mix over the bananas. Don’t worry about it being perfectly even—this cake is called "dump" for a reason!
  • Drizzle that melted butter over the cake mix like you’re drizzling gold. (And if it feels like you’re going a bit overboard, you’re probably doing it right.)
  • Sprinkle chocolate chips over everything—because life’s too short for chocolate chips to be optional.
  • Place the dish on the grill and shut the lid. Now let the magic happen! Grill for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden and set, and the smell drives your neighbors wild with envy.
  • Let it cool slightly, if you can wait that long (no judgment if you can’t), and dig in.

Diva's Finishing Flourishes

Peanut Butter Paradise:

Add spoonfuls of peanut butter on top of the mashed bananas. It’s like a PB & banana sandwich, but so much better!

Cinnamon Spice & Everything Nice:

Throw in a teaspoon of ground cinnamon to the bananas and pretend it’s fall all year round.

Go Nuts:

Sprinkle 1/2 cup of chopped walnuts or pecans on top of the chocolate chips for a crunchy surprise. (Or for that “healthy fats” excuse you might need.)

Presentation Suggestions:

Serve this beauty straight out of the cast-iron skillet for a rustic, backyard BBQ vibe.

Add a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top (because warm cake and cold ice cream are soulmates), and maybe garnish with a few extra chocolate chips and sliced bananas for that “I totally planned this” look.

Ready to be the star of your next BBQ?

Grab those bananas and some chocolate chips, and let’s fire up the grill!

Don’t forget to share your creation with #DumpCakeDiva, because we all deserve a little dessert bragging rights!
